Organisations usually accept results if they are up to two years old.
You can apply for your test to be re-marked. Fill in the Enquiry on Results Form (EOR), choose which test sections you want to be re-marked and submit it to the test centre. Make sure you attach your Test Report Form and proof of payment. The fee for the service is €120, and will be refunded if your score is increased for any section of the test.
Enquiries on Results take up to four weeks to complete. You can apply for a re-marking up to six weeks after the test date.
There are no restrictions on resitting IELTS.
Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is an international standard for describing language ability.
